Unit 10- MY journey is just beginning!!

As I review unit 3 and reflect on my thoughts and feelings during that time I can state the following:

Physical:  During Unit 3, I felt my score  was at a 5, but as I reflect on my goals at this point ( a few days ago) my score is at 3, and I felt this way because I had not made any progress. Now that I have a clear plan as expressed in Unit 9, I have taken action and started my exercise program.

Spiritual:  I believe I am at a score of 10, although at this point in my journey and due to what I have learned in this class, the definition has changed somewhat.

Physiological: I am still very grateful. Although I have seen a few challenges since Unit 3(I lost my job!) I am so blessed to have my health and physiological strength in order to deal with this stressful situation. It has not been easy, but the mindfulness practices have helped me during this process.

In closing, this class has been a wealth of information; a confirmation of what I know in my core to be truth regarding Alternative and Complementary Medicine. I am excited to continue to practice what I have learned and look forward to what I have yet to discover.

Unit 9 Final Project

                                                                                Introduction

In order to provide my clients the best healing experience, I must develop myself psychologically, spiritually and physically.  It is important for me to have traveled this journey in order to anticipate their apprehension and questions during this process.

Assessment

During the assessment of my wellness spiritually, I would score myself as a 5. Although I have wiliness and need to embrace others I continue to work on the acceptance of myself by letting go of pain of past mistakes.   I continue to have a deep and abiding faith in a higher power and have love for everyone I come in contact with. Psychological wellness I would assess as a 5. I am continuing the process of training my mind using the subtle mind and witnessing practices.  I would assess my physical wellness as a 3. I am at this point in my journey physical activity has not been a priority.
                                                             Goal Development

Since I have been sedentary for the better part of this year, my goal for physical development is to incorporate some form of exercise into my daily routine. The goal for physiological health is to practice meditation without outside distractions as this is still an area of difficulty.  The goal for spiritual health is to incorporate prayer, specifically prayer regarding the welfare of others that have caused me pain and stress in my life as a part of my practice each day.
                                                                 Practices for Personal Health

Strategies that I will implement for my physical growth is to walk for 1 hour a day beginning with 10 minute increments, eventually progressing to one hour total.  My yoga practice will also increase from once a week to twice a week.  The strategy for my physiological health is to work on continuing to train my mind using the silence and stillness practice techniques. During my loving kindness and calm abiding practices I can feel myself drifting into consciousness and wondering during my practice. I will carve out specific times each day morning and evening and stick to this period no matter what else may be going on at the moment. My strategies for my spiritual practice is to re- establish interpersonal relationships that may have ended due to pan caused by myself or others due to anger or resentment. I will begin praying concerning the matter and writing my thoughts out in a card or letter to the parties involved.
Commitment
Losing 25- 30 pounds in a 6 month period would be an indication of progress of my physical goal. Working with an accountability partner; someone who has a similar goal. Also, changing my relationship with exercise, finding activities that are interesting and fun will assist me in maintaining the weight loss.  Physiological process can be measured by recording my feelings by journaling after each session. During these sessions I commit to be honest with myself, if in doubt I will seek out a practitioner as a coach to assist me.  I will be able to access the progress in my spiritual growth by my establishing lines of communication with those family and friends that become stagnant.  Progress may ultimately depend in the wiliness of those involved to be open and receptive to this process, but as long as I can be sure that I have done everything to facilitate the goal, I can considered it accomplished.

Unit 8

In reviewing the practices completed thus far, I would say  the Loving Kindness and the Meeting  Asclepius visualization meditations will continue to be beneficial.
Loving Kindness will help me in my journey with my attitude as I come in contact with people may need my help. The practice will also help me ultimately with the love and kindness I show for myself as I'm a not always patient with myself. I would like to practice each day.
The Asclepius practice  will allow my healing to begin. I will begin to the let the light shine from  all the wisdom of my mother, grandmother and all those that have past me during my journey and the have given me the lessons learned to heal the self doubt, self defeating attitude that prevents me from feeling whole and experiencing total human flourishing.

Unit 7

I performed the meeting Asclepius meditative practice and I found it to be very interesting. During the practice I was able to visualize my mother as the wise person in my life, but as the practice progressed, I could not visualize the beams of light coming from her to me and ultimately in myself. I suppose this will take continued work.

The saying" One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself"  For me speaks to the fact that I cannot be an effective health coach if I cannot not impart some of my lessons learned thru these practices to my clients. I feel that it is important that as your client goes thru the process you have an understanding of their thoughts and feelings. The only way to accomplish this in my view is to go through the journey before hand. So, I must continue implement each phase in order to achieve spiritual and psychological  growth.

Unit 6

I practiced the Loving Kindness exercise and found it to be very helpful.  The affirmations during the exercise are one's that I will carry with me as I begin to teach class and build a client base. Gaining freedom form pain and suffering and finding sustained happiness and wholeness are the bench mark of what I would like to accomplish as a health coach.
During the assessment I determined that I will development I want is  interpersonal; building relationships, with my biological family, my spiritual family and my clients this will help me to  improve myself in the area by becoming a better active  listener by removing myself from the conversation and to focus on their need.

Unit 5- Mental Fitness

Hello Everyone,

As compare  the subtle mind to the loving kindness exercise,I feel that I faired better, I was able to focus and concentrate on my breath and leave thoughts behind as I moved in witnessing. As I began to focus less on my breath, I could feel myself slipping away- not asleep but, in this very calm state. Unfortunately, thoughts crept in my mind and I lost the sensation. I believe that it is the closest that I have come thus far.

This process will help me as I try something new this week-- Kick boxing!  It I my hope that these exercises will allow me to focus as I learn routines.

Unit 4 Loving Kindness

Hello,
Apologizes for my late post, I performed the loving kindness practice this week and I must say this will be a work in progress. I perform most exercise in the morning around 5-6 am because I believe I will be most receptive, but I am finding that I am not awake enough as I keep drifting to sleep. Overall, with continued practice it will be mentally beneficial and I will continue  as we moved forward into Week 5 incorporating the subtle mind practice.
Namaste.
